Why Miniature Herefords
- Docile
- Average height of a Miniature Hereford cow at maturity is between 38” - 43” and a bull 41” - 45”.
- Average weight of a miniature cow is 700-1000 lbs and bull is 900-1000 lbs. A typical Hereford in contrast weighs 1000-1200 lbs for a cow and 1600-2300 lbs for a bull.
- 2 or 3 possible head per acre compared to 1 head standard bovine.
- Very hardy for almost all weather conditions.
- Less time and money to feed out for the beef side of the business.
- Great 4-H project for kids due to size and temperament.
- No special equipment needed. Electric fence or 39”-42” woven wire is sufficient.
